A beautifully designed house creates more than just a pleasant atmosphere to live in. It can be a testament to unique architecture and innovative construction. This is true for the structure as a whole as well as the finer details inside. Some homes are so well-designed that they are in demand for photo and film shoots.
The rich and famous are known for their beautifully designed homes. A perfect example of this is Leonardo Di Caprio’s Palm Springs home. Located in California, the mid-century style home can actually be rented out when the star is away on film locations around the world. The style is so unique and picturesque, it’s ideal for photo shoots or just a romantic getaway if you so choose.
As mentioned before, the design is decidedly mid-century, however the inside is very luxurious with a modern retro feel that is so popular these days. As part of the charm, the house displays magnificent exposed features, including wooden ceilings, with well-placed colour splashes in the form of retro seat and couch designs.
In keeping with the retro vibe, the lighting arrangements and fixtures add to the aesthetics of the whole design. A wide, open living room with ample space is focused with a uniquely designed fire place made of exposed brick. Big floor to ceiling windows brings the outside in with beautiful views on to the landscaped garden. Behind the sitting area is a marble designed bar which is beautifully contradicting the retro interior but perfect for entertaining guests on those cold dessert evenings.
In the middle of the main living area is a floating wall that breaks up the space to reveal a snug dining area behind it. There’s also a cosy second living area looking out on to the pool. Japanese-styled lampshades and old-fashioned lounging chairs give this area a more intimate feel.
Moving out on to the pool area, you get surrounded by mountains and palm trees which can be enjoyed from the minimalist-design of the deck chairs and garden furniture. At night the whole area is fantastically lit and perfect for a relaxing and sipping on a sundowner at the end of a busy day. You’ll be forgiven to think you are the star of your very own movie set!
Moving back inside in into the master bedroom, the mid-century design comes shining through again. A second exposed brick fireplace lights up the room while you look out on to the desert night through the large glass sliding doors. Ensuite to the master bedroom is an exceptionally looking bathroom with a clean design. Standing out in the middle of the bathroom like an island, is his and hers basins with a unique unfixed mirror hanging from the ceiling. In keeping with the patter of the rest of the house, large glass patio doors open up into the garden to display those stunning views again. To finish-off the house, there are two guest bedrooms, complete with red and green retro interiors.
This house is perfect for any occasion and has enough vast open spaces with a mix of contemporary and retro design facets, ideal for entertaining or just showcasing the unique features!
